Teach & Inspire

The next deadline to apply for ABCTE's Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program is fast approaching.

If you're interested in teaching in a high-need school and subject in Florida, Mississippi or South Carolina, Teach & Inspire provides accepted participants with a full scholarship and materials needed to become certified teachers through the ABCTE program. Once ABCTE certification is obtained, candidates are eligible for an additional $1,000 stipend for completing classroom observations.

The next deadline to apply for the ABCTE Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program is this Friday, December 11. The program covers the cost of teaching certification for accepted candidates who agree to teach for three years in high-need schools and subjects in Florida, Mississippi and South Carolina. Joanne Jacobs has an excellent post on the academic issues with college students and college graduates. I wholeheartedly agree with many of the viewpoints listed and it is well worth your time to read. At ABCTE, we continue to see this problem first hand.

Recruiting teachers is not an easy task as any principal can tell you. But there are a lot of people out there that want to teach. In April 2007, the Tarrance Group conducted a survey of Florida residents and found that 28% wanted to teach at some point in their lives.
